By accessing or using Escritum ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

Description of Service

Escritum is a LaTeX editor application that provides:

  • LaTeX document editing and compilation
  • AI-powered writing assistance (optional)
  • Cloud sync functionality (optional)
  • Project and file management
  • PDF preview and export

User Accounts

To access certain features of the Service, you may be required to create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and update your account information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

Subscription Plans

Escritum offers the following subscription tiers:

  • Free: Full offline functionality with core features
  • Pro: Unlimited AI requests, priority support, cloud sync
  • Enterprise: Advanced features for teams and institutions

Subscription fees are charged in advance on a recurring basis. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
  • Transmit any malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Use the Service to infringe on intellectual property rights
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
  • Use automated systems to access the Service in a manner that exceeds reasonable usage

Intellectual Property

The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by Escritum and protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You retain all rights to the content you create using Escritum. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

AI Services

When using AI features, your content may be sent to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, or other configured providers). You acknowledge that:

  • AI responses are generated by third-party services and may contain errors
  • You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI-generated content
  • We are not liable for the accuracy or quality of AI-generated content
  • Your content may be processed according to the AI provider's terms and privacy policies

Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times. The Service may be unavailable due to:

  • Scheduled maintenance
  • Technical issues or failures
  • Circumstances beyond our control

Note: Escritum works fully offline. Cloud features are optional and may be unavailable without affecting core functionality.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Escritum shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using account deletion features in the Service.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
